LAUAN 503 - Character and Narrative - Final Week

In the final week in the run up to the hand in, the group made great progress. The clean ups were finished and I helped with the colouring to get the task done faster. The music was also made this week, a few ambient sounds will need to be added however mostly the music will be the audio focus. Also this week the production booklet was made. As Gabbi and Rhys had not finished their scenes, I undertook the task and completed the book myself. In terms of its graphic design it could be stronger as I nor my other team mates have any experience in the field. Nonetheless, I made an effort to demonstrate the volume and depth of work we had created and also made sure everyone is properly accredited for their hard work.

EBI - Time management is always a downfall, leaving everything to the last minute is not relaxing, production book could look more appealing.

LAUAN 503 - Character and Narrative Christmas Break

Unfortunately we had a lot of work to still complete over the Christmas break. Fitting it in around family proved very difficult, resulting in a huge rush to the finish. Time management and being behind has been a downfall and an area for improvement for the group the whole way through the project. The group has definitely picked up speed towards the end however I do feel that my work ethic is not mutually met here. Nonetheless, I made some good forward motion over Christmas and in the New Year, completing the rocket take off and touch down scenes which included smoke effects. This was a huge plus, I found that the effects worked really well. I enjoyed doing them a lot and would love to learn and practice visual effects more.
Another downfall at this stage is that the timings of the animated scenes made by Gabbi and Rhys do not match that of the animatic. This means scenes cannot just be slotted in and I will have a lot more time consuming editing to do. Luckily I left time for errors, it'll only mean that the final cut will be a lot longer than expected.

LAUAN 503 - Lip Sync Task

Overall I think this task was a success. Firstly drawing the mouth shapes was an interesting exercise.  In hindsight I could have worked more closely from a reference to gain more accuracy. Secondly, setting up the time remapping was for the most part a smooth process and finally scrubbing through and finding the mouth shapes was actually quite satisfying. Becoming more familiar with the After Effects was an added plus of this task.
WWW- Lip sync is pretty accurate, engaging, explored exaggeration- took inspiration from Aardman and Rick and Morty mouth shapes to do so
EBI- Could have made the mouth shapes more cohesive and similarly shaped and created a wider range of mouth shapes to fit sounds such as 'ch' and 'sh'.
